What are the requirements to obtain an Ultralight Pilot Permit (ULP-A)?

– Minimum Age: 16
– Medical Fitness: Category 4 medical certificate. (Category 1 or 3 are also acceptable)
– Knowledge: Minimum of 20 hours of ground school
– Flight Experience: Minimum of 10 Hours total flight training with the following requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 of hours of Dual Instruction (flying with an instructor)
  • Minimum of 2 hours of Solo training (flying under the supervision of an instructor)
  • Minimum of 30 takeoffs and landings including 10 solo.

– Skill: Flight demonstration and letter from Instructor.
– Examination: Written exam (ULTRA) with a minimum score of 60%. The Ultra exam consists of 80 multiple choice questions. You will have 3 hours to complete the exam.
