Does an Ultralight Pilot Permit restrict me to flying only aeroplanes registered as an Ultralight?

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The Pilot Permit Ultralight allows you to fly any aeroplane that meets the primary definition of an ultralight. Aeroplanes that are registered with Transport Canada as Home Built, Owner Maintained or even Certified can be flown with a Pilot Permit Ultralight if they have a maximum gross take off weight not exceeding 1200 lbs, a stall speed not greater than 39 knots (45 mph), no more than 2 seats and comply with a minimum useful load calculation.
